Description: 100 heirloom non-GMO Japanese Yamato Sanjaku burpless cucumber seeds 大和三尺胡瓜きゅうり. 日本三尺小黃瓜. This heirloom burpless variety is often used in sushi & pickled veggies. Best eating when it is between 12”-18” long. As the name sanjaku 三尺implies, this traditional variety could reach 3-ft long under ideal growing condition & allow it to fully mature. Best grown with trellis, arbor or chain link fence support, so the cukes won’t curl too much. Galvanized meshed wire 4x4 grid size is quite useful too (so hands can go in & out easily), ditto for 4’x16’ cattle panels for serious cuke growers. Here in SW Chicago burb, I have an organic farm specialize in Asian veggies. I normally soak the seeds indoor for few days then sow them in seedling trays inside a coldframe around mid April, then transplant them to small hills around Memorial Day (conventional safe date for tomato transplanting in zone 5B). I use 48” bamboo stakes to “train” each cuke seedling climb onto trellis structures.
