Description: Beautiful pair of Early American hand woven Silk Stockings worn at the wedding of Mary Ann Davis Dudley to William Gustavus Lewis at Roxbury Massachusetts on October 13th, 1841. The stockings were handed down from generation to generation, and there are two pieces of paper with some fantastic information as to who wore them and when. It appears that they were worn once more in 1883 by the daughter of the pair aforementioned. The pattern about midway down on the stockings is quite stunning, with beautiful and quite typical mid-19th century decorative motifs. Condition is truly excellent., with absolutely no degradation of the material.
