Description: 1871 half penny is a rare date for the bronze half penny series. Rated R13 . You can decide the grade it obviously isn't the best, but the wear is even. strangely, there seems to be some retention of lustre . It could be that it has been reapplied . There is a strange linear mark it doesn't seem to show all the normal depth of a typical scratch, so it may be intentional made around the early stage of circulation. Its edges have worn with the coin. I've tried to take close-up images to show this. As with all things bronze and Victoria, the lower denominations below penny are less likely to reach the heady prices of that market. Yet for collectors interested in errors and die history, they are a more affordable option. Many thanks . If anyone wishes to use these images for any research or other websites I would politely ask you to mention this : " courtesy of www.madaboutart.org charity" I am happy to lend my support to others but the biggest value in finding and listing these rarities is that they improve communication between collectors. Whilst listed on a public site, the images are still my intellectual property. Please respect the ambition to highlight the charities' purposes via the collection. If you wish to purchase the item, then you can use your images. Many thanks. It takes 1 minute to communicate, and yes, I am sure permission will be given.
