Description: "CHICLETS" STORE DISPLAY – circa early 1900's Frank H. Fleer & Co. Inc. 10-1/4" x 8" x 1-3/4" (closed). Color litho (with metallic gold accents) on paperboard with original labels and a glass top. We are offering an original early "point-of-purchase" counter display for Chiclets chewing gum. This highly graphic cardboard self-contained unit includes a glass top lid, creating a great grocery/drug store visual presentation. The grocer/customer would lift top glass lid with fabric pull tab and "spoon" out the candy-coated chewing gum (at five cents an ounce). On the back side, there is a label by Frank H. Fleer & Co. with serial number 2059, dated 1906. Also, there is a warning to would be imitators to restrain from copying their product or packaging. The detailed lid art would make this item "pop" in any showcase. All in all, this scarce store display is loaded with exceptional eye appeal. NOTE: This is an original early 1900's "point-of-purchase" counter display and not a reproduction. Condition of cardboard display is considered GOOD to FAIR with moderate surface/stain/edge wear. Moderate edge scuffing on display box itself with scattered small edge tears. Several moderate litho pulls with three 3/4" top lid corner splits. Box colors and imagery are still bold, bright and eye-catching. Overall, considering its age, we feel this is a very displayable example by most standards (see photos).
