Description: 1930's high school yearbook featuring students and teachers, activities, sports, candids, pictures of the school and surrounding, and local advertisement, and including then graduating senior and future Cleveland Browns superstar and Pro Football All-Time Team member Marion Motley. Marion Motley was a fullback who played for South Carolina State and Nevada before he played for the United States Navy under all time great coach Paul Brown, a team that notably beat Notre Dame 39-7 in 1945. Motley went on to star for the Cleveland Browns which won every championship in the four year history of the AAFC, compiling a record of 47-4-3 over this time, including 1948's perfect 15-0 season, Motley the AAFC career rushing leader with 3,024 yards. In 1950 he led the NFL in rushing with 810 yards; that year he blitzed the Steelers for 188 yards on 11 carries. In 1968 Motley was voted into the NFL Hall of Fame, just the second Afro-American to be inducted. He was voted to the Pro Football All Time Team and is part of the 1940s All-Decade Team. Paul Zimmerman ("Dr. Z") in his book The New Thinking Man's Guide to Pro Football called Marion Motley the best player in the history of football.
