Description: 1 1950s Original Poster - Dégustez BYREL - Produced by JS Violet Frères in Thuir, France Size: 15 x 23 ¼ inches (38 x 59 cm) This poster is in excellent condition. Around 1860, Simon and Pallade Violet, shepherds and sons of a mule driver from Corsavy, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, descended from their harsh mountains to the Roussillon plain and became street vendors. Six years later, they opened a fabric and wine business in Thuir, a village about ten kilometers from Perpignan. In this period of triumphant hygienism, they came up with the idea of creating a drink made from wine imported from Spain and quinquina, a tonic from a tropical bark. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
