Description: Important Early Die State 1962 Proof Franklin Half Dollar Misplaced D FS-901 PCGS / CAC PF65 DCAM! Early die state with jet black mirrors, white contrast, and some beautiful lilac patina working in from the rims. Clearly one of the first pieces struck from new, well-prepared dies. Gorgeously preserved frosty design elements, with a few tiny lines in the fields preventing an even higher grade. Unquestionably superb contrast. A decade after discovery, this remains a very rare issue in DCAM. A curious variety displaying what looks like the remnant of a raised D mint mark on the liberty bell, just to the left of Pass and Stow. It is unclear whether or not it truly is a mint mark, but it is a unique anomaly in the series, and a variety of great interest to the specialist (much like the controversial 1952 Super-bird quarters are to Washington collectors). This rare Early Die State demonstrates that the Misplaced D anomaly was present before the die was finished, as the “D” is frosted over with the same wonderful white snow that coats the rest of the design elements. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE CAC, or Certified Acceptance Corporation, green-stickers only coins that are solid or high-end for their assigned PCGS/NGC grades. CAC will gold-sticker PCGS/NGC coins they believe to be under-graded outright. The extra verification provided by CAC confirms that you aren't buying low-end material; and our specialization in high-end coins means that you will continue to see CAC stickers appearing in DM RARE COINS’ inventory!
