1963 NGC PR68CAM Jefferson Nickel Major Reholder Error New Slab Old Gasket Label

Description: This listing is for a 1963 NGC PR68CAM Jefferson Nickel. Apparently at some point recently this coin was sent to NGC for a reholder. During this process NGC replaces the holder and internal gasket and label regardless of their condition. Someone mistakenly put the coin back in the old gasket instead of the new one and reholdered it with the old gasket and label. It is important to note that this is not a transitional certification because the reverse hologram is the latest generation that had two prior designs between the transition from the labeled holder style to the current reverse hologram. The holder and insert show absolutely no signs of tampering, but to be on the safe side I contacted NGC to confirm authenticity. They requested I send photos of the front and back of the slab, which I did. In response to my request they emailed me the following in response. "Hello XXXXXXX - Thank you for providing those images. It's an odd combination of our parts but based on the pictures, the team says that it is genuine." Their assessment was based on the photos we sent (the same that are included in this listing) not the coin in hand, but we are also confident that this is a genuine slab error.
