Up for bids this week is a 200% Authentic 1984 Oklahoma Sooners Big 8 Championship Basketball 10K Ring. The OU 1984 team posted a 9–2–1 overall record and a 6–1 conference record to earn a share of the Conference title under head coach Barry Switzer who took the helm in 1973. This was Switzer's ninth conference title in twelve seasons. The team was led by All-American Tony Casillas. After winning a share of conference title, it earned a trip to theOrange Bowl for an appearance against the Washington Huskies. During the season, it faced five ranked opponents (In order, #17 Pitt, #1 Texas, #1 Nebraska, #3 Oklahoma State and #4 Washington). The last three of these opponents finished the season ranked in the top 10. This is one Nice MINT Ring!!!! If you have seen other 1984 OU Big 8 Rings you might notice this ring is slightly different than the rest of the Rings that you have seen. All of the players and staff rings have a silver shaped football with CZ Stones on them. This ring has a reddish Stone in the center with OKLAHOMA in Script on top instead. This ring is a ONE of a KIND ring that was ordered this way by the OU Athletic Dept person who was in charge of ordering the rings for the team that year. I spoke to him and he told me that he tried to get Barry Switzer to choose this top or option for the top for the players and staff members. Switzer chose to go with the one with the CZS on top and this OU AD member chose to order his ring with the red stone and OU in script as he liked this option much better. So this is the only 1984 OU Ring with this option for the top of the ring. The sides of the rings are exactly the same as the players only thing different is the center portion. So if you want a rare ring that there is only one of this is the ring to have. This Ring a size 9 1/2. The Ring weighs in at a Heavy 32.2 grams of 10K Gold. This ring was made by the Jostens Ring Company. Inside of the ring contains the "Proper Manufacture Markings" this being © JOSTENS 10K.
