Description: Jean de Bosschère (1878-1953) was a Belgian artist best known for his fantasy work in illustrating Fairy Tales, myths and Legends, in a combination of styles from Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Breugel while reminiscent of Harry Clarke, Willy Pogany and Aubrey Beardsley. Gouache and gold metallic on paper. Signed in the plate and the page number of the book where the illustration can be found is below the art as shown. .. The title is also below the art. I was also able to find the art in the book through online searching.. This is one of three, original colorful illustrations done in Gouache and metallic paint on paper, created for the Extant works for Francois Rabelais, 1929.The art has not been removed from its frame.
