25-NORFED $1 Silver Liberty- Type 2 With Original Paperwork And Brochure

Description: This is a fascinating dive into an attempt to create an alternative to US Currency that was ultimately shut down by the government. This auction includes the entire product ordered in 2006. 25 -$1 Silver Liberty 2003 ‘coins’ in a coin tube, the company brochure, receipt and a newspaper article about the company all in the original shipping bag. The ‘coins’ are in uncirculated condition as received. A couple have some toning. All are the type 2 style with the flat top number 3 in the 2003 date. These are considered the harder to find style according to the info sites on line. The ‘coins’ are silver and were privately minted in Idaho by Sunshine Minting. The company brochure is in perfect condition and lists their address as 225 Stockwell. I guess the company moved and the brochures are identified by the company address and are collectible on their own. The original invoice is included showing the order placed and filled in late October 2006. It shows a purchase of 25 $1 Silver Liberty at $2 each. The Liberty Dollar was shut down in 2007 but is still producing Trump ‘medals’ and various other things. Interesting concept -but doesn’t hold up to scrutiny or to governments legal stance on creating a gold and silver backed currency that competes directly with US minted money. NORFED -National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve Act and Internal Revenue Code began distributing their Liberty medallions calling them ‘specie’ rather than coins. The Justice Dept said ‘ it’s a crime to use Liberty Dollars as legal tender’. In 2007 the US feds seized the operation. Questions-please ask.
