Efrem Zimbalist Jr, Roger Smith, Edd “Kookie” Byrnes on Photo cover77 Sunset Strip is an American television private detective drama series created by Roy Huggins and starring Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Roger Smith, Richard Long (from 1960 to 1961) and Edd Byrnes (billed as Edward Byrnes). Each episode was one hour long when aired with commercials. (the TV series ran from 1958-64; the show cast shown in Photo Cover. Edd Byrnes played cool-kid Kookie on the hit TV show “77 Sunset Strip; later to appear role as radio announcer Vince Fontaine in the 1978 Hit Movie Grease! He ♫ also scored a gold record with the single/jingle theme "Kookie, Kookie, LEND ME YOUR COMB": (about his character's hair-combing obsession) -- Anecdotal Ed --Comic CONTENTS: summary: "Kookie's Close Call" Toth story pencils and inks 16 pages"Lights, Camera, Danger" Toth story pencils and inks 16 pages"Grapevine Clues" Toth pencils and inks inside back cover (black and white)"Kookie's Catch" Toth back cover pencils and inksKookie borrows his detective dad's car, only to be kidnapped by a gang of thugs. Alex Toth's lead story begins competently enough, but the artwork becomes more erratic midway through (see interior page below). By contrast, "Lights, Camera, Danger" seems to be drawn with a more confident line. {"...the opening panel's scene of a restaurant parking lot is impressive, not only in Toth's rendition of cars but its overall naturalism. The artist's single page "Kookie's Catch" rounds out the book, but an alternate version of the same issue replaces it with an ad...."} -- comic contents info gratefully reprinted from an on-line review, show info from Wikipedia: thanks from Crazy Ed --A Scarce Highly sought after TV comic from the 1960 Detective/Action Show.
