Acquired from the original owner by the current owner. Agustín Fernández. Considered one of the most emblematic Latin American surrealist painters of the 20th century. In 1939, Agustín received his first drawing lessons, and the following year, he entered the Jesuit school of Belén de Embarque and took his first painting classes. In 1946, he enrolled at the National Academy of Fine Arts San Alejandro. Fernández explores the boundary between the figurative and the abstract, where recognizable images (limbs, fingers, nipples, etc.) emerge through a primarily abstract pictorial field but remain trapped, partially submerged, or flattened.
