Alden 947 All-Weather Walker 8.5C PTB Brown Calfskin Shoes, Unsung Resole

Description: I purchased these lightly used but hated the original plantation crepe soles. Sent them to Unsung in Nashville (very skilled cobblers) to have a Vibram 700 sole put on them. I've barely worn them since, as I recently discovered that I've been sizing incorrectly- hence these being for sale. Condition: Please note the stained lining. For some reason the leather reacted with my socks and left these stains as well as erasing some of the original markings. It's not mold or anything. You can also see evidence of the inserts I wore in these from marks on the insole. There are also felt tongue pads in place- they were present when I purchased them and happened to suit my low-volume instep. I will be leaving their removal up to the buyer, as I don't want to risk damaging the lining if they will be needed in the future. Very little wear to the soles. The Vibram 700 has good traction and comfort. Unsung did a great job with the resole- note the leather heel stacks. A few of the welt stitches didn't quite hit the original holes, but even Alden's original work wasn't perfect. The leather insoles have some imprinting but should not cause an issue during wear. A few stray marks on the upper leather but nothing serious or noticeable during wear. Please view the pictures thoroughly Sizing:These are built on the Barrie last, so you should wear them a half size down from your Brannock size. These would be best for a Brannock 9C. The Barrie last has a relatively wide heel and voluminous instep, so be aware of that. You'll see that the size appears to be marked as "8.5A": Alden lasts are combination lasts, meaning that the heel size is proportionally narrower than the forefoot. So these are actually 8.5A/C, meaning A width in the heel and C in the forefoot. The C has simply worn away.
