Allen Edmonds Normandy Caen Kudu Roughout Cap-toe Boots 9D 9 D 1661

Description: This is a stunning pair of Allen Edmonds Normandy cap-toe boots in roughout Kudu leather with combination leather soles. This is very similar to the Red Wing Slate Muleskinner Iron Rangers. This particular color can might be considered pewter, slate, or taupe, with hints of gray, brown, and even a little green. The name Normandy for these combat boots is meant to evoke the soldiers fighting it out in WWII. While this is officially the Normandy style, as far as I can tell, it is identical to Allen Edmonds' Caen boots as well. Kudu is an African antelope that goes through brush and thorns, creating a very distinctive leather with markings and scratches all over it. The leather is amazingly pliable, yet durable. This leather is from the CF Stead leathermakers, the world's premiere source for kudu leather. Roughout leather is normal -- high quality -- full-grain leather that has been turned inside out to allow for the "rough" side to be out; it is also sometimes called reverse suede. Most suede products are actually split in half and the rough or suede side is used for one product and the top or smooth grain is used for some other product. Regarding fitting, I usually wear 8.5 in Red Wing Heritage but size 9 in most Allen Edmonds shoes. These are in fantastic condition.
