Description: Please visit our eBay store for a complete list of in-stock Civil War relics organized by recovery location. We are working as partners in conjunction with Gettysburg Relics to offer some very nice American Civil War relics for sale. The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling on eBay. THE BATTLE OF ANTIETAM ~ RECOVERED ON THE WILSON FARM ~ A RARE Location at the epicenter of the battle ~ Found in October 2001 ~ These impressive looking Civil War relics, 3 ricochet bullet fragments from 3-ring rifle bullets (all of them heavily mangled and exhibit visible rings and scrapes on the opposite sides), were recovered on the Wilson Farm at the epicenter of the morning engagement on the Antietam Battlefield when it was private property. These artifacts were found the Antietam Battlefield, on the farm at the epicenter of the battlefield that is enclosed by the Cornfield Road, Smoketown Road and Old Hagerstown Pike (known today as the Wilson Farm). During the battle, this area was between the Cornfield and the Dunker Church and also included a portion of the East Woods. It saw heavy action throughout the morning of the battle (I have included a photo of a map that shows the location of the farm during the morning of the battle). This is one of the few farms on the heart of the battlefield that was still in private hands (until purchased for preservation recently) and saw intense fighting and significant bloodshed. This bullet was found by a relic hunter in October of 2002 (with permission). A letter of provenance will be included. We include as much documentation with the relics as we possess. This includes copies of tags if there are original identification tags or maps, as well as a signed letter of provenance with the specific recovery information. All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic, and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Land on Battlefields that is now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, was acquired after the relics were recovered. We will not buy or sell any items that were recovered illegally, nor will we sell any items that we suspect were recovered illegally. Thank you for viewing!
