Description: Offered is an approx. 6" fully extended folding 2 blade antique ca 1890 pocket knife. The blades measure 1.5" and 2.5", have sharp uneven carbon steel edges and a marked CATTAGAUGUS CUTTLERY CO. LITTLE VALLEY, NY. The walnut wood handle has brass rivits, initials of original owner carved in wood and a few thin stress lines (do not detract). The blades open and close smoothly, condition is good with expected wear from use and antiquity. Of historic interest, Admiral Byrd selected his trusty Cattagaugus knives to accompany him on his expedition to the North Pole. This is an early Cattagaugus knife estimated to have been made ca 1890.
