Vintage: the 4-numeral telephone exchange dates it to the period of 1921-1948; the transferware pattern dates it to the early 1920s Maker/marks: Taylor Smith Tayler/marked only with the name of the pattern Approximate dimensions: 13" x 10" Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. Very clean and fresh piece in excellent condition for its age, with no chips or cracks, and no crazing, silver/gray utensil marks, or scratches. The complete absence of scratches suggests that it was only ever used for display, and the presence of two yellowish rusty stains at the top suggests that it was displayed in a metal wall plate hanger. Gold advertising stamp has some light wear, but is still very readable -- which is better than typical of an after-market stamp application of this age. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report.
