ANTIQUE CRAZY QUILT - VELVETS - LAP / THROW SIZED

Description: One of a kind hand made antique Victorian Crazy Quilt: ~ I am guessing this to be late 1800's to early 1900's in age ~ Very interesting mix of fabrics, colors, shapes, and stitch work - so many neat colors it should coordinate with or compliment almost any decor or color scheme ~ I bought it from the original owner who included a hard to ready handwritten note on the history of the item - from what I can make out... her loving Aunt Bertha had made and given this to her, it was her very first quilt. Her Aunt was quite the seamstress and made and sold these to friends and at a church bazaars at the time. She obtained her unusual fabric from a hat shop, hence the beautiful colors. Her Aunt not only sounded like a loving woman - but creative, smart, and thrifty as well. We all should have been so lucky to have an Aunt Bertha. I will of course, send the note with the quilt to the proud new owner of this treasure ~ Features fantastic mix of unusual colors for the time - lots of dusty muted and regular shades of mauve, green, pink, peach, purple, mint and emerald green, taupe, blues, wine, rich reds - mostly velvets with some fancy flocked and textured velvets - and some silks, satins, andcorduroy also. The backing is a light olive green satin material. It is attached with a tie through type method. The backing is pretty well intact, with the exception of some fray and wear along the very edges. Ready and waiting for your wall, collection, or gift giving - you will love this! AGE OR ERA: Original true authentic vintage / antique piece - my best guess is Victorian era - or late 1800's to early 1900's - a very old woman owned it and she was young when she received it I was gather MARKINGS: None that I could find METAL / MATERIAL: Mix of fabrics, colors, textures - mostly assorted velvets with a light olive green satin backing - see pics and description above for more detail CLASP / CLOSURE: x MEASUREMENTS: Measures aprox 43" x 59" = throw, lap, or child sized in my opinion. The fabric pieces were fashioned into aprox 14" x 14" squares and they are arranged in 3 x 4 layout to equal 12 all together. WEIGHT: x TESTING: x U.S. RING SIZE: x INVENTORY NUMBER OR NOTE: x CONDITION = Acceptable vintage condition for a piece of this age - it is far from perfect, but perfectly fine..... as most Victorian Crazy quilts normally exhibit more than a few frays, losses, mars, stains, tears, rips, damages, shredding, assorted misc issues to both the fabric and the stitching and this one is no different. So - I am selling it as-is, as-found, and as-pictured. The varied materials used demonstrate that some hold up better than others and that is part of the charm of these historical beauties. It is still mostly intact and well worth preserving, restoring, and/or displaying.
