Description: This listing is for a silver fork in the Mayflower pattern. This piece is signed Warner and 11. Although I am unable to definitively attribute this fork, it was likely made by A.E. Warner of Baltimore ca. 1840-1850. It has a nice floral engraving on the front with what looks like a 3 letter monogram on the top of the handle. It is quite rubbed but it looks like the first letter is an M and the last is possibly a C. Cannot tell what the middle letter is. There is no engraving on the back. The "11" stands for 11/12 parts silver which is 91.6% silver content - just shy of sterling which is 92.5%. This fork is 6 7/8" long and it weighs 1.29 troy ounces (40.2 grams). Many thanks to a fellow Ebayer for the information provided about this piece. He knew much more about early Baltimore silver than I will ever know. This fork is in great condition for it's age. There are no distracting dings, dents or scratches but the tines are a bit uneven, they are not particularly pointed, one is a bit shorter than the others and there are stray knife marks and blemishes on the back of the fork's tines (fronts look pretty good).
