Description: this is a gorgeous antique White's of Utica, N.Y. stoneware 5 gallon crock - as you can see from my photos, the crock has an incredibly large & beautiful cobalt decoration on its front section - the decoration appears to have a cobalt blue flowery center with a series of cobalt blue "wings" around the flowery center - above the decoration is inscribed in cobalt blue "White's Utica, N.Y." - below that is the number 5 stamped into the crock - the crock weighs a heavy 20 lb. & is 12" high & 13" across the top - there are a couple of rim chips in the front lip & one small chip in the rear lip - there is a small chip on the right "ear" - other than that, the rest of the crock is incredibly clean all the way around - there are no hairlines or cracks apparent on the body of the crock nor on the bottom of the crock - inside is a very clean brown "Albany Slip" composition with no residue from whatever was originally held in the crock - this piece is part of my personal collection that I bought at an auction in Amherst, MA approx. 15 years ago - the crock can be picked up at my home in Swanzey, New Hampshire -
