Description: A brass bullet mold for a .31 single shot pistol or for making buckshot found on the Chancellorsville Battlefield in Virginia. These type molds were carried for personal arms the soldiers carried. The pin was iron and has rusted the mold as shown. It could have been carried by either side. The Battle of Chancellorsville was fought from April 30 to May 6, 1863, near the village of Chancellorsville. Two related battles were fought nearby on May 3 in the vicinity of Fredericksburg. The campaign pitted Union Army Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker's “Army of the Potomac” against an army less than half its size, General Robert E. Lee's Confederate “Army of Northern Virginia”. The artifact measures 4 1/4” and comes as shown. All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original as stated.
