Condition: superb -- paper is bright and clean, humidified & flattened with no handling or storage wear -- perfect for framing; the backside is blank.ASHANTI AGAIN!Britannia (to Lord W, "the man who has been there") You know all about the business, commander-in-chief, but THIS time I expect something more than an umbrella."--Ashanti also known as Asante, are part of the Akan ethnic group and are native to the Ashanti Region of modern-day Ghana. --Kumasi is a city in the Ashanti Region, and is among the largest metropolitan areas in Ghana.--The Anglo-Ashanti wars were a series of five conflicts that took place between 1824 and 1900 between the Ashanti Empire—in the Akan interior of the Gold Coast—and the British Empire and its African allies.--In 1873, after decades of an uneasy relationship between the British and the Acing people of central Ghana, the British attacked and virtually destroyed the Asanti capital of Kumasi, and officially declared Ghana a crown colony on 24 July 1874.--Sir John Tenniel (28 February 1820 – 25 February 1914) was an English illustrator, graphic humorist and political cartoonist prominent in the second half of the 19th century. He was knighted for artistic achievements in 1893.
