Description: Dual1019 Turntable, with Shure M95ED cartridge.This is a classic turntable, widely regarded as one of the best of its day and still in the top ranks. Likewise, the Shure M95ED cartridge was and is very highly regarded - a used one recently sold on ebay for $125. I purchased the turntable new in 1969, and it saw moderate to low use in the first 25 years, nearly zero use in the next 25 years. But over the past 3 years I have used it to digitize my LP collection of about 200 albums, and it worked just fine. The cartridge is newer, I do not have purchase info on it. In a different auction I will offer a separate pickup mounting head and a different cartridge. The original shipping box contains everything that was included in the purchase: instruction manual, strobe template for setting exact speeds at 50 or 60 hz, 45 rpm adapter (never used), changer spindle to enable it to function as a record changer for playing multiple LP's. Also included is a brush and cleaner fluid for removing dust from records. The plinth (base) is of handcrafted walnut or oak, not sure which. It is nice enough and without marring but not the one that Dual sold. There is no dust cover other than the flexible plastic one originally supplied. The turntable will be packed in the original shipping box, inside a larger box also containing the plinth. On the photos, a thin band of putty, less than 1/16 inch in diameter, can be seen at each end of the tone arm. Back in the day, an enthusiast magazine suggested putting this in place to damp out high frequency oscillations. I don't know if it made a difference or not, but it is still in place, and can be easily removed. Based on comments from recent sellers of turntables, no returns will be accepted. It will be tested immediately before packing and it will function properly after it is assembled. This is easy and well-described in the original instruction manual. Basically, just place the turntable frame on top of the plinth, connect the wires, and put the heavy platter in place. Please ask any questions you may have.
