Description: I bought this one-off print by Brian Eno at Baltic Mill, Gateshead in Feb 2007 during an exhibition of Eno's 77 Million paintings installation. In addition to this print, 13 other prints each in an edition of 50 were made available during the exhibition for £450 (see the order form photo) but by asking the staff, some unannounced, smaller but unique prints were also available. I'm not sure now how I got the tip-off, but I bought two of the unique postcard-sized 162 x 111mm prints, titled 'Constellations', numbered 1/1 (ie an edition of 1 print) and signed by Eno. The image came from a 'frozen' moment from the constantly changing 77 Million Paintings installation, where a finite selection of slides selected by Eno would randomly overlay and fade in and out. The possible combinations added up to approx 77m. 17 years later, I'm letting one of the unique prints go. Over the years I have framed it in different ways, sizes of matte and under types of glass. The original position was in a sunny location (giclée prints have very durable ink and survive being exposed to light), though the paper discoloured slightly and the title, edition number and signature faded. The photos shows that Eno's handwritten additions beneath the print are still visible but only when they are turned to the light. I cut a matte that covered the faded title &c, revealing only the area of the print itself. I also turned it upside down, preferring that orientation… I'm sure Eno would have approved ;o) This matte is included in the sale. I'm asking £380, based on market appreciation over the years, or make me an offer. Included in the sale is the original 77 Million Paintings A5 (approx) catalogue that the print is a result of, a low-res printed A4 sheet that was stapled to the envelope my print was kept in (you can see the original price was £250 - and interesting to see the gallerist inverted the orientation of the print when adding the label) and the official print sales catalogue sheet for the larger edition prints. These last two are rough, A4 print outs and are slightly creased from years of storage but the original Eno print is very good! The colours are still bright and the paper clean, with only the white area and added text affected by light. I had a cherry wood frame made by the same framer who made the matte. This is NOT included in the sale, but is shown as a suggestion of how the print will look framed. The risk is sending glass through the post. I can add the frame (unglazed) for an extra £50 as it was made especially for this work, eg by creating another listing. A giclée print, aka artists' print or fine art print is a high-quality ink jet print with a high degree of quality control from the artist. They are often limited edition - in this case 1/1. This is the only version of this image that was produced, and represents a rare opportunity to own a unique piece of art by Brian Eno. I'll ship internationally in secure packaging, tracked and insured. Postage of £20 is a guess, ask for a quote or I will refund any extra you pay...you only ever pay the actual cost. Or, collect in person from Birmingham 13. Why not collect the other 76, 999, 999? ;o) [Please see my other Eno related auctions and listings]
