DAS Double Decade Marble: Radioactive Aventurine Explosion

I normally sell the more vintage JABO marbles, but every so often I come across a DAS marble that I think will become a nice collectable...and this is one of those. This DAS Double Decade run had some exceptional families to choose from to collect. The sheer amount of green aventurine glass in this marble is simply outstanding. Very few marbles made during the JABO or DAS production runs exhibited this amount of explosive sparkling aventurine glass. The thin oxblood line and beautiful lemon swirl of glass makes this a keeper. The last couple of pics show a thin line of UV glass as well. So, as mentioned above, this marble is UV reactive when exposed to a black light. That glowing glass is called uranium glass or vaseline glass. From a physical materials standpoint, this type of glass is called Fluorescent. FYI...Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation. It is a form of luminescence. In most cases, the emitted light has a longer wavelength, and therefore a lower photon energy, than the absorbed radiation...in case you are curious... :-) I try my best to take high resolution pictures to show exactly what you are getting as well as to rotate the marble to give multiple views. I use a Canon Rebel DSLR with built-in flash to reveal as much detail as possible for a clear picture. This marble was manufactured using the 3/4" machine and the size of this particular marble is 0.715".
