Del Monte Foods is a California based company founded in 1886 that specializes in processed and canned fruit and vegetables. These western themed posters all feature the "Del Monte Round-Up" text and portray cowboy and rancher themes. The poster series is beautifully painted in the traditional illustrative style. This complete series was used in supermarkets around the United States to advertise the canning company's "Round-Up" Campaign. Starting in the 1940's and appearing biannually, Del Monte took advantage of the popular iconographies of cowboys and the West to encourage customers to 'round-up' on canned peaches and veggies. This usually accompanied a sale on the goods; further encouragement for customers to buy in bulk.
