Dinner Plate-Peacock-French Faience-Moreau-Borg-Joly-Malicorne-Vintage

Description: Offered is a lovely faience plate made by the Borg-Joly Company of Malicorne, France. It is done in the Quimper Briton style with rustic peasant and nature themes. Faience refers to earthenwares which are hand painted then tin-glazed or enamelled. This plate features a peacock with grasses. It's has the typical yellows and blues of French faience. The plate is stamped on the back with "Decor Never fait main" (translates to Handmade Nevers decor) and also has a paper sticker attached. The sticker shows the company name as Moreau-Bourg-Joly, Made in France since 1747, Hand Made Malicorne, France. Bourg-Joly or Malicorne Pottery started in France in 1747. Several families were involved in running the pottery over the years, but the Moreau name became connected to it in 1918 with that family owning the factory in Malicorne until 1993. I believe this plate dates to the 1950s time period but if anyone can provide additional information about the marks on it, I'd love to hear from you.
