Description: Woman: In All Ages and In All Countries. Volume V. Women of Modern France, by Hugo P. Thieme. Published 1907, Philadelphia, by George Barrie & Sons. Deluxe limited edition in fancy fine binding, featuring full crimson morocco leather binding with extensive gilt decoration to front and back boards, spine with raised bands and ornately gilted compartments, and gorgeous full leather doublures on front and back inner covers, with gilt rules and flowers and large emerald morocco rectangles. Sewn in blue bookmark. Moire silk emerald endpapers. Top edge gilt. This edition was printed on Japan vellum paper, and features full page plates printed in various tinted states and colors (not sure if these are hand-colored or not). Book remains very attractive on the shelf. There is a bit of rubbing to the front hinge, but the binding is still secure and strong. Corners slightly bumped. Area on one of the blank free papers where a sticker has been removed and something has been crossed out. Similar small area on title page where something was crossed out. Despite those flaws, a great example of a super luxury deluxe binding, likely by George Barrie but unsigned.
