Description: France 1944 Chateau de Malmaison, Philatelic Exhibition, Imperforate Cinderella stamp in orange #1 Chateau de Malmaison labels were produced for a small stamp exhibition held outside Paris in 1944. Chateau de Malmaison was the residence of Prince Eugene, who is pictured on the labels. Prince Eugene was the son of Napoleon llJ and Eugenie, Comtesse de Teba. Eugenie was born in 1826 in Granada, Spain, and died in 1920 in Madrid. Eugene was the nominal heir to the throne of France. He was born in 1856 and died in 1879, six years after his father died. His father, of course, is pictured on French stamps of the 1850s through the 1870s. Mail exists from the exhibition, all post of flee authorized and with decorative cachets. Some covers bear the labels, but the labels usually are not canceled. A similar design of Prince Eugene exists on a set of labels produced in 1902 in London.
