Description: The sharpest brightest photos possible uploaded. Serious fair offers welcome! While there is interest in this piece, I've reduced my asking price further. Any of you wanting this coin, figure out what its really worth to you, and who knows, maybe its an offer I could accept. I won't know what I will actually take for this coin until the offer is in front of me. My asking price is based on the counterstamps and the overall eye appeal of the coin and its condition. But ive seen what rare and unique counterstamps can fetch on coins. And I cant find another large cent with this 6 pointed star counterstamped into these coins. But you dont have to like my price, just offer me one you do like. The original patina is rich, the condition is nice, the eye appeal is nice, it just needs a new home. Please note, my listing this item is not a reflection of any of my beliefs or opinions. I am simply trying to honor the legacy of the craftsmen who were involved with this coin being created; from the miner who toiled underground for 25 cents a day mucking 16 tons of ore per shift, to the smelter who probably died from lung disease refining the ore, to the machinist who made the dies and the engraver who cut them. I can only do this by finding a suitable home for the coin that will appreciate having it. That's what I get paid for here when someone buys something, and I've had a pretty good run of doing that with all manner of items since I began here in 2005. I prefer to opt out of what the rest of the world is doing. America, is what matters to me. And those things which our Founding Fathers made clear to us. That alone should tell you everything you could need to know about where I stand on things. I guess, my point is here, if I had ice cubes, I'd absolutely try to sell them to eskimos. I will also ship anywhere in the world where I am allowed to ship, if you aren't sure, I can look up the customs regulations if you are wanting to buy from outside the US. I guarantee that the coin is genuine, and I've scrutinized this to the best of my ability, these counterstamps absolutely have as much age and patina on them and in them as the rest of the coin does... They aren't recent additions, in fact, this has been sitting around in a coin dealers inventory he forgot he had for many years until I asked if he had any more large cents. I have seen not so old coins with other significant counterstamps go for a lot more money, and I am not greedy, but I do have a need to balance my books so, if its worth it for you to have something unique for your collection, if you collect counterstamps or unique items, I appreciate a genuine and sincere offer and ill ship right away. And I know it depends on who wants it and how badly they want it, and what their particular niches are with collecting. But I don't have any luck with auctions, back in the day I would have put it up for auction and seen where it went... But... Every time I run an auction now, I don't know what eBay did, but, I have literally put gold and silver up for 99c and actual shipping starting bid, and had no watchers no bidders. So all I can do is put a price and wait for offers. Gone are the days of not knowing what the market will bear and putting an auction up and finding out. At least for me.
