George Jung did a handful of private autograph signings following his release from prison in 2017. However my George Jung signatures are very unique and rare as George added RARE inscriptions on the items he signed for me which are one of a kind. I personally corresponded with George Jung for a decade while he was incarcerated. This autograph was signed while he was incarcerated in Otisville Prison. It is believed that George Jung contributed to 80% all the cocaine that was smuggled into the United States during the 1970’s-1980’s. George Jung was portrayed by Johnny Depp in the 2001 biopic film titled Blow. At the height of this enterprise Jung and his associates were reportedly making $250,000 a month (equivalent to over $1.7 million in 2020 dollars adjusting for inflation). He was nicknamed “Boston George” and “El Americano.” Jung initially had his stewardess girlfriend transport the drugs in her suitcases on flights. In search of even greater profits he expanded his operation to flying the drugs in from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico using airplanes stolen from private airports on Cape Cod. Jung was also partnered with notorious Medellín Cartel smuggler Carlos Lehder who allowed Jung to use his private island Norman’s Cay to refuel his planes before Jung smuggled cocaine into the United States. Norman's Cay island which is 210 miles off the Florida coast in the central Bahamas. In 1994 Jung was arrested with 1,754 pounds of cocaine. He later pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy and received a 70-year sentence. Jung was incarcerated at Otisville Federal Prison then was transferred to Federal Correctional Institution La Tuna and then to Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix, New Jersey. Jung was released from prison in 2017 and passed away in 2021 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. If you are interested in George Jung’s story I highly recommend reading Robert Porter’s book “Blow.” The book is much more in-depth than the film.
