Description: A beautiful antique Victorian 18k gold floral engraved 9-sided band ring with engraved initial 'J', marks of William Mann, 1878. This fabulous Victorian solid 18k yellow gold band ring has such a wonderfully unique look and at a size 10 3/4 was most likely worn as an elegant thumb ring by a discerning Victorian, the ring has nine panels, eight of which are finely carved with very detailed fern leaves alternating from pointing down to up, the leaves superbly highlighted by little textured hand-hammered decorations around them, the ninth panel has the letter 'J' engraved in lovely old cursive script which completes this fantastic one-of-a-kind ring! The ring has full English hallmarks with maker's mark 'W.M' most likely for William Mann, the crown for gold, '18', the Birmingham anchor and date letter 'd' for 1878. The ring tests for 18k gold. The ring is approximately a size 10 3/4. The band is approximately 6.5mm wide. The panels measure about 7mm x 6.5mm. The ring rises about 1mm above the finger and weighs approximately 5.6 grams.
