Description: DESCRIPTION: Graptopetalum Paraguayense "Mexican Ghost Plant" is hardy to zone 7 (5 degrees) and quickly form beautiful rosettes. It flowers in mid summer with white flowers that are similar in size and shape to strawberry flowers with red spots and a yellow-green center. They should be protected from too much winter moisture, but here in northeast Florida, zone 9, our soil is very sandy and we have never had any problems. The rosettes reach about 3" in diameter and they easily spread on thick stems in all directions. It should be treated like a cactus although it does not have any spines and can be safely handled with bare hands. Be forewarned that the stems are very brittle and there are almost no roots to speak of. Since the stems can get quite long, we find a hanging basket works well, but ours are just planted in our flower beds. GROWING CONDITIONS: We have not experienced any type of plant pest, fungus or any other problem in growing them except over watering could cause them to rot. We grow ours in bright shade but they can take the full sun too. They are easy and fun to grow. Because they are a succulent, they require good drainage in the ground or in a pot, so use a fast draining potting medium. They require no special care other than infrequent watering. Just take a leaf/stem and stick it in soil, and it will take root. Like other succulents, they need to sit for a week or so after being cut or broken so the cut portion can "harden" (form a type of 'scab' over the damaged tissue. DESCRIPTION OF ITEM FOR BID: You will receive three (3) rosettes 2 - 3" in diameter. If any leaves break off during shipment, just lay them on the top of the soil and they will root themselves. Your rosettes might, or might not be rooted. In the right conditions you should have blooms within one year. They will be dug fresh and shipped bare root.
