Description: This vintage machinist watchmaker tool chest is made in Dayton OHIO by the H. Gerstner Son's Company. It's built with carefully selected hardwood ( oak) and veneer that provides a moisture free home for your specialty tools. On the top it has a faded previous owners stamp, JSB, and an aged crack but it is not a break in the wood. All the wood has a great patina with no chips, wood rot and no water damage! There's the remnant of the original green felt along most of the edges. This 7 drawer tool chest has 8 steel corner guards without any rust and is held together by small antique bolts. The middle drawer support is assembled by wood dowels. No screws or nails were used in this design. A very detailed chest! Behind the recessed panel with lock ( there's no key but can be replaced) are 6 drawers that slide by tongue and groove system. And with a lock the panel protects your drawers from being open. It's a very thoughtful design. The bottom one just pulls out so you can store the panel underneath it while you're working. And the dimensions of the drawers are: 9 1/8" wide x 7 1/2" long and 3/4" deep. The largest one on the left is 2" deep. Both bottom drawers are 19" wide, 7 1/2" long and one is 3/4" deep and the other one is 2" deep. Four brass/metal latches still hold the weight of this solid oak chest weighing in at 20 pounds. It's missing the original front locking system which can be easily replaced and the original leather handle has no wear or tares on it. The overall dimensions are 14" tall, 9 1/4" deep and 20" wide. And this still can be used today for your specialty and hobby tools! Comes from a smoke and pet free home and has free shipping!
