With her mother and sisters she fled to Scotland after the invasion, and married King Malcolm there, a widower with several children. Queen Margaret bore him 8 children, all the while, encouraging the spiritual life of the people of Scotland; bringing their churches more in line with Rome; opening religious houses for nuns and monks; building churches and chapels; homes for the poor; giving food and clothing and other aid to anyone in need. She had a positive influence upon her husband in his rule of Scotland; and it is said that there was great affection in the marriage. Soon after the death of Malcolm and her eldest son in battle, Queen Margaret herself died. The people themselves proclaimed her a saint, and after miracles confirmed it, she was canonized in the 13th century. She is the patron saint of Scotland of which they are rightfully proud; as well as the patron of parents of large families, widows, queens, and young girls; she provides compassionate help to those who have lost children, too. She is a worthy role model for young girls and women of today, especially for girls who look forward to having a family; for St Margaret enjoyed great love and many children during her life, while unselfishly doing all she could to make things better for so many people during a difficult and often violent age. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages" and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the saint or Catholic devotion. Pray the Rosary Every Day for World Peace !!
