Description: This is a Middle Devonian trilobite, Harpes perradiatus, from Alnif , Morocco. The specimen is well preserved- most of the fine pitting is evident on the preglabellar area. The trilobite is 1.99 inches long (from tip of spines to tip of shield) and 1.22 inches wide at the widest point on the shield. The entire specimen, with matrix, measures 3.1 inches long, 2.55 inches wide and 1.66 inches high. There is a repair running straight through the middle of both spines. In the trilobite- collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure. All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained. Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
