Description: Helena Wolfsohn Dresden Hand Painted Reticulated Watteau Scene 8 1/2 Inch Plate Late 19th century reticulated porcelain luncheon sized cabinet plate. Very nicely hand painted with a central Watteau courting couple scene of a Renaissance lady in a yellow bodice and purple skirt holding a book of music, while a gentleman in orange plays a stringed instrument, possibly a lute. They are sitting on rocks in front of trees and an obelisk. With hand painted flowers in pink, orange, yellow, blue, and purple along the reticulated edge and gold gilt highlights to the reticulated edge. Has an underglaze blue crossed mark. Probably Helena Wolfsohn, Dresden. A similar mark is pictured in "The Book of Meissen" after 1882. The form is also one that was used by Helena Wolfsohn. Has some wear to the gilding, but no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
