Description: New With Defects Note- Before you start reading the following, I wanted to say most of the cosmetic issues I'm pointing out aren't going to be mentioned by most sellers because it's either so common or tiny that it's barely visible unless you're looking at it pretty much at point blank range. However, I always try to list any cosmetic issue(s) I see to my best of my ability no matter how big or small it is because I want anyone who buys something from me to be happy with their purchase and not feel like they were misled in anyway. This is the reason why I think I have excellent feedback after 5000+ sales over the last few years on eBay. Also, these shoes are getting authenticated by eBay shoe experts which is why even I'm adding cosmetic issue(s) that I normally wouldn't mention in my eBay listing. I hate for your shoes to not pass inspection because I forgot to mention something as tiny as a speck or something most people wouldn't even consider a cosmetic issue because it's so common on shoes these days. I'm writing this because in my head when people see "New With Defects" under the eBay title, human nature makes some people think of the worst things possible. Like "the sole must be falling off or there must be a tear in the uppers." Or maybe "the shoes is dented" because it got run over by a bus. LOL! Nothing could be further from the truth. Please make sure you read the following and THANKS for checking out my listing. Tiny Specks Note- There are faint tiny specks here and there on the synthetic uppers and midsoles of both shoes. These specks are roughly the size of a pinhead or just a tad bigger. The tiny specks on the uppers are light gray in color while the specks on the midsoles are black in color. Some shoes have a few specks others may have 0 or 1 speck in these specific areas. Please checkout the pictures to see what a typical tiny speck looks like up close before making any purchase decision. Thanks. Faint Collar Dirt Stains Note- There are typical faint dirt stains in the interior as well as the exterior of the shoe collars on both shoes. These faint dirt stains on the collars are mainly from people's dirty fingers pulling on the collars while trying on the shoes. Honestly, most brand new shoes you can try on in a store have these dirt stains on the collars. Its just when the collars are light in tone like the shoes in this listing it's much more obvious. Feel free to clean the collars if you want too. I just do a light wipe down on light colored shoe collars so a little elbow grease on your end could definitely do wonders. Surface Midsole Foam Creases Note- There are shallow surface foam creases here & there on the white midsoles of both shoes. Some shoes have more shallow surface foam creases than others. These shallow surface foam creases were obviously from people trying on the shoes while in the store. I wouldn't worry about midsole foam creases because it's 100% going to form once you start walking/running in them for sure. If you have another pair of used HOKA's at home try looking at the foam midsoles. There might be a million surface foam creases on it by now. LOL! Please checkout the pictures to see what a typical crease looks like up close before making any purchase decision. Thanks. Sizing Note- I own this shoes in my personal collection so here's my take. Buy the biggest size you're comfortable with. For example, most people can fit 2 sizes. A half size like 10.5 or a full size like 11. In this example you should get the size 11 Project Clifton. Same goes for if you can either fit a men's 10 or a 10.5. Get the size 10.5. Another example is if you can either fit a men's 10.5 or a 11. Get the size 11. If you're a women who can either fit a 11.5 or a 12. Get the size 12. Here's why you should get the biggest size you can fit from my personal experience. It all boils down to the Aquaguard zipper that covers the Quick laces. If you read the online reviews on this Project Clifton shoes mostly everyone loves everything about it except for the zippers. Either the zipper is too hard to close or it breaks too easily. I had the luxury of trying on both of my sizes I'm comfortable with and there was a noticeable difference when it comes to the zipper. The smallest shoe size that I comfortably can fit on most shoes went on fine but I had to tug a bit hard on the zipper to close it shut. Now for my bigger or max shoe size I can normally wear also went on fine but the zipper was so much easier to close. I closed the zipper with little pressure unlike my smaller shoe size which took some force to get it shut. This is why I think many people who have this shoes complain about the zipper. Basically, the size they bought is a 1/2 size too small. It's obvious if you have to constantly pull hard on the Aquaguard zipper for it to close that it will eventually break. Is the zipper a flaw on HOKA's end? I don't think so. Here's why. Most of us know our foot length and width but we really don't know the height of our feet. That 2" area from the front of our ankle towards our toes is the tallest part of the foot. Some people have tall feet, some have short feet and some like me have a foot that is taller than the other. I'm a alien. Haha! HOKA's research team probably designed the shoe based on the average height of a persons foot for a specific size. So a person with a taller than average foot will definitely have issues with zipping up the shoes for sure. This is why I recommend the biggest size shoe you are comfortable with when buying these Project Clifton's. The bigger the better if you want the zipper to close as smoothly and easily as possible. Can I Buy A Full Size Up Instead Of A 1/2 Size Up? First off, when I say a full size up I mean if your smallest shoe size you can fit is a size 9.5 then a full size up would be a size 10.5. A half size up would be a size 10 in this example. Now that's out of the way. If you're thinking on buying a full size up instead of a 1/2 size up from your smallest shoe size here's what I've learned since I tried on a full size bigger Project Clifton. First, the zippers close much easier. Which is great. However, there is one drawback "in my humble opinion" since you're buying a longer shoe. Your heels tend to lift up from the back of the shoes when walking if you don't tighten the Quick Laces really tight. I know what you're saying to yourself, "no duh, that happens if your shoelaces are loose in a bigger shoe." LOL! Hold on, I do have a point here. The 1/2 size smaller from a full size up Project Clifton's which I eventually choose kept my heels from lifting up in the shoes with really only the Aquaguard zippers. I didn't have to really tighten the Quick Laces that much. I like this somewhat ease of a slip-on feeling. Is tightening up your Quick Laces a drawback for sizing a full size up? I think so but you may definitely not think it is because in the end a 1/2 size up on this HOKA Project Clifton shoe is roughly only a 1/4" longer when I did side by side comparison with the sizes I had in my inventory. I wanted to mention this option because sizes are very limited in this style online as well as in my eBay store. A full size up might not be your first choice, but it is a choice that can work for you as long as you know the Quick Laces need to be tightened really good and walking and not running is all you should do in them at this size. However, there are some advantages for buying a full size up. The Aquaguard Zippers will definitely close much easier which should help prevent premature zipper issues and you can wear thicker socks to a certain extent. If there ever was a shoe you'd sacrifice the perfect fit for the perfect look this is it. Hopefully, I or someone else online has a shoe size you can work with because this shoe is too cool looking to not have in your shoe collection. It would be hard to argue this isn't the coolest slickest looking HOKA shoe ever done in their collection. I love the stealth undercover look of this shoe with no huge HOKA billboard on the side of the shoe. Haha! What I Use This Shoe For Note- As stated previously, I have this shoe in my own collection. Even though this shoes is considered a running shoe, I do not use it to run in. I use these Project Clifton's as a lifestyle casual shoes. I will wear these Project Clifton's to the airport, going for a bite to eat or doing daily errands. Here's why I prefer not to run in these from my personal experience. The Quick laces under the zipper are harder for me to get super tight unlike typical shoelaces. I like my shoelaces pretty tight when running. Quick laces are a great time saving idea but shoelaces are so much easier to dial in the tightness on a running shoe for me. Secondly, the zipper issues from online reviews made me ultimately decide not use these shoes for running. As you all know, running versus walking puts much more wear and tear on a pair of shoes. I didn't want to put extra stress on the zippers from say a short 5 mile run. These shoes aren't cheap with a MSRP of $250 which is much much higher than the average HOKA running shoe which is why I sided on "better to be safe than sorry." I rather wreck I cheaper pair of HOKA's for a daily run than these for sure. With all this said, you can do whatever you want in them. If you want to run in them. That's fine too. In the end it is a running shoe. I just wanted to say how I use the shoe because of the zipper issues many have reported in their online reviews. My zippers are still intact from low impact use so using it as a casual shoe is working for me and it could work for you too. Let's be honest, these days a lot of people are wearing HOKA's as a casual non-running shoe. The days of HOKA'S being a hidden gem in the running community are long gone. Try shoe watching at any airport in America. I see a ton of people wearing HOKA's on their flights these days. So if you want the whoa factor, these futuristic looking HOKA's will definitely get you stares & compliments for sure. I love wearing these because not many people have these high-end streamlined HOKA's unlike those clown colored HOKA's that everyone seems to have. Haha! My Advice To Make The Aquaguard Zippers Close As Easily As Possible From Experience: Sit down when zipping up the zippers. Why? If you try to zip it up while standing it will either be much harder to close the zippers all the way to the top or like me you won't be able to close it all the way to the top because your feet actually get wider from the weight of your body when standing. Sitting with your heel only touching the ground or completely lifting your foot off of the ground doesn't put any weight on your foot making your feet not as wide thus making it so much easier to close the zippers. This is very important because there is no stretch in the Aquaguard synthetic covering.This may be controversial but I like to leave the Quick Lace locking tabs on the top outside of the Aquaguard coverings as much as possible. The reason is when I leave the locking tabs hidden under the Aquaguard coverings it creates a small speed bump under the zippers. This little speed bump definitely hinders the zippers from closing just a tiny bit. I'm just worried one day a zipper will get hung up on the locking tab for a split second and I will use excessive force to get it over the bump and the zipper will break. Or the constant wear & tear from the extra force over time to get the zipper over the locking tab will eventually cause the zipper to break prematurely.Wear thinner socks. You want to avoid wearing thick socks in these shoes because it will add unwanted thickness under the zippers which will cause the zippers to not easily zip up or down or not close at all.With all that said you may not have to follow any of these suggestions because your foot height may be shorter than average for your shoe size. However, if you have taller feet I strongly suggest you follow some or all of these suggestions to help insure smooth long lasting zippers. Color Note- The official color of the upper is Blanc De Blanc and the midsole is Bright White. For those of you who have no idea like me what color is Blanc De Blanc here's my version of what this color represents. Blanc De Blanc is a off-white ivory color. So the synthetic upper is basically ivory and the midsole is bright white.
