Description: Buffalo Dancer Hopi Kachina - 1991by the late Earl Yowytewa This is an exceptional White Buffalo Kachina by the late Hopi Indian, Earl Yowytewa. Mr. Yowytewa was an award winning artist that began carving Kachina dolls in the 1940's. His work was featured in many high-end galleries. The Buffalo Dancer was one of his favorite subjects. This doll measures a little more than 10" tall. It is in excellent condition. The only blemish, which you can see in the second picture, is the sinew used for the bow’s string is broken. I didn’t even see it, my daughter pointed it out to me. My father is the sole owner and purchased it in 1991. Everything about the doll is pure perfection. Carved from cottonwood, includes fur for headdress, boots and bow. Has hand painted shell necklace. He is holding a bow and rattle. Incredible detailing throughout. Very clean work! Some of his kachinas have sold for $1,200 at online, high-end auctions. Condition is "Used". No marks, cracks, or blemishes. Comes to you from a clean, smoke free home. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. I recommend adding insurance to shipping. It is well packed in a lot of peanuts.
