Description: Janis Lyn Joplin was an American singer and songwriter. One of the most iconic and successful rock performers of her era, she was noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals, as well as her "electric" stage presence. In 1967, Joplin rose to prominence following an appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival, where she was the lead singer of the then little-known San Francisco psychodelic rock band Big Brother & the Holding Company. She appeared at the 1969 Woodstock festival and on the Festival Express train tour. Five singles by Joplin reached the US Billboard Hot 100, including a cover of the Kris Kristofferson song "Me and Bobby Magee", which posthumously reached number one in March 1971. Her most popular songs include her cover versions of "Piece Of My Heart", "Cry Baby", "Down On Me", "Ball And Chain", and "Summertime", as well as her original song "Mercedes Benz", which was her final recording. Janis Joplin's Greatest Hits is a 1973 collection of hit songs by American singer-songwriter Janis Joplin, who died in 1970. It features live versions of Down on Me and Ball and Chain which were included on the album In Concert the previous year. The album up for bid is a 1973 release by Columbia Records that was manufactured at Columbia’s Pittman pressing facility. It consists of 10 tracks with a run time of 47+ minutes and contains many of her biggest hits. The cover is in VG+ condition with only mild signs of wear. All edges and corners are intact and there is only mild signs of disc wear along the top of the back cover. All photos, artwork and graphics on the covers are intact and sharp with no discoloration. The paper inner sleeve is original and intact, but has split seams and is generic in nature with no photos, track listings or production information. The recording has been cleaned, tested and recorded using Audacity. All tracks are free of skips and there is little to no background noise. The disc surfaces are free of defects and show few signs of wear. The surfaces retain their gloss and the sound is strong and clear. This is a VG+/EX recording of one of giants of rock and queen of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. An outstanding record.I always clean, listen and test every record I list on EBAY.
