Description: Vtg Japanese Buddhist Kongorei Handbell for Prayer This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist five-pronged handbell, or Kongorei used primarily during Buddhist ritual ceremonies and prayer. It is a Soto Zen bell and is mostly made of silver-colored metal. It features embossed plum blossoms along the handle and a shouchikubai motif on the bell part. At the very top is a gold metal lotus flower. The front has a removable royal purple braided and knotted cord and tassels with a silver plum blossom pin. The sound is very bright and cheery.
