He worked in the Bourbonnais between 1480 and 1500. The major work of the Maître de Moulins is the triptych in the cathedral of Moulins. Attempts have been made to identify the Maître de Moulins with the artist Jean Perréal, with one of Perréal's pupils, Jehan le Peintre, and with the Flemish artist Jan Hey.
