Description: Las Vegas, Nevada - Stardust Hotel & Casino Roadside sign with original font 1971 3 x 5” Color Photograph Snapshot Originally opening in 1958, the Stardust is one of the most famous hotels & casinos in Las Vegas history. This picture is of the famous Stardust roadside sign, a 188’ high, 93’ wide popular neon structure installed in February 1968. In 1977, the sign was redesigned to remove the space theme and later updated to a Helvitica font in 1991. The sign as it appears in this 1971 photo only lasted 9 years (1968-1977). The original lettering was given to Las Vegas’s Neon Museum and refurbished in 2020. The original sign was dismantled in 2007 and also given to the Neon museum. Lido (aka Lido de Paris) was a long running show with topless showgirls that ran 1958-1991. Other acts on the sign include The Novelties and The Kimberly’s. Very Rare photo of Las Vegas history.
