It's comfortable, but will support quick-tonguing motifs and technical runs. The cup is a shallow double-cup. The rim and cup combination are very similar to a HJ SIGNATURE model. The throat is open (#27), with the Legends enhanced throat cylinder length. The backbore is a Legends Vegas, which has a nice balance of sizzle and core. The HJ is perfect for the player looking to perform extremely technical upper register pieces with ease, but without sacrificing tone quality in the middle and lower registers. Mr. James was famous for his astonishing technical proficiency and lovely tone. He spent five decades delighting audiences performing with his big band, featuring stars like Frank Sinatra and Helen Forrest. His technical capabilities were truly legendary, as seen in his performances of songs such as "Flight of the Bumblebee" and "Two O'Clock Jump". This mouthpiece is kept in stock in our Vintage blank which is inspired by classic Jet-Tone mouthpieces played by some famous trumpet players of a bygone era. It has a beautiful art deco look. There isn't a lot of excess mass with this blank, which makes it versatile enough for general playing but with plenty of zing for those solo and lead parts!
