The Green Salad Bowl is a heat-tolerant variety of loose-leaf lettuce that is ideal for selling by the roadside. It maintains its flavor and fine texture even in the hot summer months and remains in excellent harvest condition for an extended period of time. Additionally, this plant thrives in cooler weather, as it can tolerate partial frost and shade, making it a fantastic choice for a fall crop. Each plant forms an attractive rosette of wavy, notched leaves that are always tender, sweet, and delicious. For optimal growth, Green Salad Bowl lettuce seeds prefer full sun, although they can also tolerate partial sun. They can be started indoors in pots three or four weeks before transplanting them outside. This slow-bolting variety is typically planted in spring, but succession planting can be done throughout the year in areas with cool summers and mild winters.
