Description: LLADRO #5200 Soccer Player Kneeling Lladro figurine of a Soccer Player on one knee with one hand resting on a soccer ball. He is wearing gray shorts and a light red jersey which bears the Coat of Arms of Spain over his left breast. His socks are dark gray with red and yellow stripes reminiscent of the Spanish flag. Nicely detailed in the Lladro tradition. Designed by Francisco Catalá. Approximately 8.75 inches (~ 22 cm) tall. This figurine introduced in 1984 and retired in 1984. This short production period, combined with the very desirable subject matter and large size (he would be approximately 13 inches tall if standing), make this a highly sought after figurine. Most of the Lladro 5200 Soccer Players have the blue and white striped Argentina jersey; on eBay, most have BUY-IT-NOW prices ranging from $349 to $399 (excluding ones sold “AS IS”). I found none with the red Spanish jersey listed for sale on eBay. One with a red jersey SOLD on eBay January 10, 2024 for $385, no box. The only red jersey I found currently for sale on the internet was priced at $610. A very scarce figurine.
