Published in September 1994, this map accompanied a traveler's map of Mexico and the article "The Sonoran Desert: Anything But Empty." Great Peoples Of The Past - The Mesoamericans 1997 (Good condition, slight creases) This map is the second half of a two-part map set published by National Geographic in December 1997. The first map is titled "The Mesoamericans". The advanced civilizations of the Maya and Aztecs lived in an area that essentially includes the present-day states of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador. On this map you will find a map of ancient Mesoamerica, on which ruins are drawn. Inset maps provide interesting information about civilizations, the rise and fall of cities and states, trade, and natural resources. Detailed drawings of artifacts complete this beautiful map. Great Peoples Of The Past - The Inca (Very Good condition)The Inca Empire was the largest empire in pre-Columbian America. Its political and administrative structure is considered by most scholars to have been the most developed in the Americas before the arrival of Columbus.” The map-side of this study contains a map of the once Inca Empire, running from Columbia down into Argentina, with it's political and military center located in the city of Cusco in Peru. The study contains three map insets showing the extent of the civilizations in three stages from 100 AD to 1470. There is a fourth inset showing the location of known archaeological sites and a lineage of the Inca rulers. The reverse-side contains a illustration of Machu Picchu as it might have looked with it's roofs. At the bottom of the illustration is a time-line of major events running from 900 BC to 1572, when the Incas were defeated by the Spanish. Water (Precious Resource) (Good condition, slight wrinkles, no creases)The "Water: Precious Resource" map contains a wealth of information on surface water, ground water, water pollution, and water usuage. This map was published in National Geographic in November 1993 in a special issue devoted to water. A map of the United States also accompanied it. Land Of The Maya 1989 (Very Good/Near Mint Condition)This map features national parks and other preserved areas where one can explore the remains of the great Mayan civilization, plus an abundance of historical notes about Mayan cities and their locations. An abundance of text, notes, and several individual maps highlight such elements as population density, ethnic diversity, and income of the residents of New York City. Half of a two-map set, this map accompanied a map of Manhattan and three articles on the city. Southwest USA (Mint condition)Published in October 1992, the "Southwest U.S.A.: The Land of Open Sky" map features information about the most popular sites in the region including Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks, Santa Fe, Tombstone, and cliff dwellings. Half of a two-map set, this map accompanied the Southwest map in the same issue. Spain In The Americas(NM condition 1992) Original vintage wall map of Spain in the Americas is made by National Geographic and has full color maps, illustrations, and facts on both sides.
