Description: This beautiful illuminated art sculpture has the quintessential Halston / Studio 54 1970’s MOD vibe…reminiscent of not only KARL SPRINGER, VAN TEAL, CHARLES HOLLIS JONES, PAUL EVANS, and JEFFREY BIGELOW, but also RITTS/ ASTROLITE — and fabulously complements many Mid Century Modernists, from Vladimir Kagan, Curtis Jere, and Sonneman. We used it in a room that was mainly streamline moderne / art deco (Alfons Bach, Bel Geddes, Kem Weber and Wolfgang Hoffmann), with a few Ralph Lauren Modern Metropolis / Duke rosewood pieces. THE DETAILS: A Stunning architectural piece crafted of clear and frosted acrylic/ Lucite. The sculpture is able to be lit from underneath as the middle section lifts up to allow portable, battery-operated LED lights (6 are included) to place under the center, creating a true showstopper focal point. These LED lights are operated by a remote (also included), so that one may customize the lighting effect for any mood/ ambiance. Whether lit in this manner, or using only standard lighting (table lamps ot overhead) or no outside illumination whatsoever, this exceptional piece looks wonderful as table sculpture. Measures 24” square (width & depth) x 18” high and we “guess-timate” its total weight somewhere in the 75-100 pound range. (Sorry we can’t be specific as a fractured shoulder limits our ability to move it). There may be a signature on this piece — somewhere— but we do not recall ever seeing one. Having never seen another piece like this one, we believe it may be a custom, one of a kind work — but that is mere conjecture on our part. CONDITION: Very Good overall, commensurate with age and use. A few light scratches to the Lucite / acrylic… one or two of the small sandblasted cubes are not glued down. One corner underside lacks the (approx) 5/8”cube. NOTE: The other pieces in these photos — Viktor Schreckengost, Richard Florsheim’s skyline lithographs, and the Simmons mirror have been listed separately. A WORD ON SHIPPING / PICKUP: This is marked as “LOCAL PICKUP ONLY” but we may be able to suggest shippers — depending on your destination. Any referral on our part is provided as a courtesy — the buyer handles all arrangements and payment to any outside shipper hired — and assume any and all risks in that regard. Several buyers have successfully used uShip and Plycon to book a shipper. Feel free to ask any questions regarding this. We will do whatever we can to help the buyer get this. AND…. Please also check our other listings! In the coming weeks, we will be offering several other prized 1920’s - 1930’s Art Deco pieces, including sculptures by ALEXANDRE OULINE, LUCIEN GIBERT, JEAN DE RONCOURT, MAX LE VERRIER, tea/coffee sets from CHRISTOFLE, PUIFORCAT flatware, goblets and cocktail set from Desny, Revere, Lurelle Guild for Kensington, and Chase, modernist paintings, a suite of cubist portraits / lithographs, African and tribal art, as well as a nice selection of furniture — a Machine Age Norman Bel Geddes for Simmons bedroom set, (dressers, bed, vanity / desk), tables and chairs by Wolfgang Hoffmann and Alfons Bach (Royalchrome, Lloyd). Also, a Paul Frankl inspired skyscraper coffee table, and small objects and figurines (Rosenthal, Hertwig Kathutte), as well as a pair of shagreen*/ leather screens custom created for the Baccarat Hotel, NYC. We recently listed a pair of Bottega Veneta goatskin parchment (vellum) hard suitcases from the estate of Andre Leon Talley.
