Description: Very rare Magnavox AR496 from between 1979 and 1981. I've never seen another one. Quite unique. Radio works, tapes play, and I can record off of the radio. I didn't try recording with the microphone, not did I try the auto fade function. Antennae is there. Not bent or missing. This had the common Magnavox amber gears that fall apart when you look at them. I replaced those with 3D printed ones found here on E-Bay. The volume potentiometer was shot, so I swapped in a new one. It has a different shaft, that's why the volume knob is different. I also replaced the Cassette belts. The washer for one of the tape spindles was gone. I fabricated one and pressed it on. I've heard sequins work, but functionally this is good. A couple of dents in the aluminum face plate on the corner. I tried to capture them in the photos. Although I've gone through this and got it working well, one has to remember that this unit is over 40 years old. Therefore, I can offer no guarantees or returns. Only the radio and the 2 prong cord is included. Anything else in the pictures is not included. Based on the labor alone I have into this, someone is getting a good deal. I've probably got 8 hours in it.
